Zuo to open SOFA showroom
MONTREAL – Zuo Canada, a contemporary furniture and accessories resource based here, is expected to open a permanent showroom in the SOFA annex of Toronto’s International Centre sometime early in 2017.
The 4,900 square foot showroom will be located on the facility’s ground floor in Space 107, which has been used by Amscan Canada, a provider of tabletop and gift products, for the past several years. Zuo, the Canadian arm of the California-based Zuo Modern, is expected to take possession of the space in December.
A number of other furniture and appliance vendors have permanent showrooms in SOFA (an acronym for Source of Furniture and Accessories) including Elran, Durham, Artage, Canadel, Chairtech and Van Gogh Designs.
The International Centre is also home to the Canadian Furniture Show, which the 2017 edition of which is scheduled to be held from May 27 to 29.
“We exhibit each year in June at the Canadian Furniture Show and love the response we get from attendees but wanted to expand our exposure with a permanent showroom,” said ZUO Canada chief executive officer Michael Revah said in a statement. “By being open to the trade Monday through Friday, we will be able to triple our sales while offering customers our newest introductions without having to wait a full year to see what’s new.”
He also noted Zuo unveils new products every three to four months, and the new styles create excitement that should bring in designers and retailers to touch and see the new collections.
“We also plan on hosting events and holiday promotions, plus floor sample discounts when we are changing the designs,” Revah added.
The International Centre is one of the few privately owned trade and consumer show and conference facilities in Canada, boasting six halls and more than 500,000 square feet of exhibit space.
Revah said, once completed, the new showroom will offer Zuo indoor and outdoor furniture, lighting, mirrors and accents. The designs will focus on emerging trends and introductions from the company’s four distinctive collections: Modern, Pure, Vive and Era.
“I am very proud of our Zuo Canada family and the success that co-owners Michael and Benjamin have developed over the last nine years,” said Luis Ruesga, CEO of Zuo Modern. “I never imagined the decision to partner with them would become as successful as it has.”
The company also maintains six permanent showrooms in the United States: High Point, North Carolina; Miami, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Las Vegas.
