WS launches 4 e-commerce sites
SAN FRANCISCO – The e-commerce space in Canada has gotten a little more crowded thanks to Williams-Sonoma which has launched four new sites for customers in this country, adding heft to the 24 brick-and-mortar stores it operates across the country. The sites for Williams Sonoma, West Elm, Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids will offer an enhanced customer experience including full access to mobile devises, localised content and new product offering.
In a statement, the U.S.-based, multi-channel home furnishings retailer pointed out it generates over 50% of its revenues online and the further development of company-owned e-commerce sites is a key component of its global growth strategy. William-Sonoma launched its first international web sites some five years ago in Australia and the United Kingdom.
“Canada is an important market for us, and we are excited to offer our Canadian customers the convenience of online shopping, providing them with a complete multi-channel experience,” said Laura Alber, president and chief executive officer of the publicly-held Williams-Sonoma. “In addition to our retail presence, we are now able to engage with our Canadian customers online and through their mobile devices with localised content and enhanced product offerings.”
She noted the new sites will include mobile functionality that will allow customers to make purchases from any mobile device. The online customer experience will also include localised content marketing that highlights Canadian holidays and traditions.
The sites will feature products sold in Canadian stores, as well as select new assortment offerings that have yet to debut in the Canadian market. At launch, new-to-market items will include a curated assortment of best-selling products from the U.S. To date, this includes cutlery and cookware from Williams Sonoma as well as furniture and decorative pieces from West Elm. The company is promising additional selections in the coming months.
All of the company’s brick-and-mortar stores in Canada are located in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto.
