Sunpan ups aid to Daily Bread
TORONTO – Contemporary furniture resource Sunpan Modern Home has announced it will increase its monetary donations to this city’s Daily Bread Food Bank (DBFB) for the month of April in support of its COVID-19 relief efforts.
According to Daily Bread, a third of food bank clients are children and it has seen a 53% increase in overall visits at its on-site food bank. It expects the trend will increase due to COVID-19 layoffs.
Daily Bread also explained its challenges of trying to feed families in need while facing unique pandemic-related challenges, such as significant decreases in donations, food bank closures and adjustments to safe distribution methods.
Sunpan has been a corporate partner of Daily Bread for more than a decade, Simone Lai, the company’s digital communications manager told Home Goods Online, adding it also wants to spread awareness of the struggle community members are facing during this difficult time and to encourage others to also support where they can.
“We make regular monthly donations that have resulted with Sunpan being one of Daily Bread’s top corporate donors each year,” she explained. “For the month of April, we’ll be boosting our donation to help alleviate the increased pandemic-related challenges on Daily Bread.”
In its 2019 annual report, Daily Bread credits Sunpan as a ‘Pacesetter’ and is listed among those individuals, organisations and businesses that donate between $10,000 and $24,999 a year to its operation. Sunpan is also the only furniture company listed as a supporter.
The company also noted monetary donations allow the Daily Bread Food Bank to purchase items for those in need and asks other member members, if able, to do so through this link.
