Sunpan to open for LVM
TORONTO – Contemporary and transitional furniture resource Sunpan Modern Home has announced its showroom in the World Market Center will open during the upcoming summer edition of the Las Vegas Market, which is scheduled to open for a five-day run on 30 August.
“After long deliberation with our team, we have decided to open our Sunpan showroom at Las Vegas Market,” company president and chief executive officer Sundeep Bagga said in a statement. “We have been continuously and diligently working with our partners throughout the pandemic to develop beautiful product. We look forward to safely and confidently opening our doors to customers for an exciting in-person showroom experience.”
Only a handful of the 40 or so Canadian furniture, gift and home décor resources with permanent showrooms in the World Market Center have said they, too, will be open. These include Vertuu Design, a contemporary furniture, lighting and accessory supplier based in Vancouver; LH Imports, a full-line furniture distributor also based in Vancouver; Kitras Art Glass, a decorative accessory specialist based in Fergus, Ontario; and, Mood Dekor, an accessory supplier based in Calgary.
A number of others have indicated they won’t open for the summer edtion of the Las Vegas Market. Among them are casual dining powerhouse Canadel; upholstery specialist and case goods resource Palliser; Mobital, the Montreal-based distributor of contemporary upholstery and case goods; ready-to-assemble specialist Prepac Manufacturing; and, the Toronto-based mattress maker Cannabed.
It should be noted the border between Canada and the United States will remain closed to what the government calls ‘non-essential travel’ until last September. It’s not known whether travel to trade events such as LVM is considered essential.
Sunpan’s showroom is B700 of the World Market Center. Bagga said while appointments are not mandatory, they are encouraged. Showroom capacity will be limited and masks are required for entry. Sanitizer stations will be installed throughout the showroom. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no food or beverage services in the showroom.
