Sleep Country opens three
TORONTO – Sleep Country Canada Holdings added three units to its store count during the first three weeks of July. One in a mall and two freestanding stores. Two under its Sleep Country banner and one under Dormez-vous.
Starting in Alberta at the beginning of the month, the publicly-held sleep specialist opened it first store in Leduc, Alberta – which is just south of Edmonton. It’s located at 2338 46th Avenue East.
The next to open was in the Square One shopping centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The retailer now has stores in ten malls across the country, including the two largest: Square One and the West Edmonton Mall.
Located in the core of Mississauga, Square One is the largest shopping centre in Ontario. The company said it choose to place a store there because of its vast selection in retail experiences and its reputation for elevated guest services. It is current home to more than 320 merchants. The Sleep Country outlet is found on the lower level near the mall’s food court.
SCC’s Dormez-vous banner then opened its first store in Chicoutimi, Quebec. It’s located at 1324 Blvd Talbot, next to Place Saguenay.
“As we continue to expand in Quebec after 25 years, we are thrilled to be opening a new store north of Quebec City and be part of Chicoutimi's dynamic community.” Dormez-vous president and SCC chief business development officer Stewart Schaefer said in a statement.
Already the largest mattress in Quebec, this brings Dormez-vous’ total store count to 61 with two distribution centres.
T date this year, the company has opened nine stores. As of 15 July 2019, SCC operates a total of 273 stores and 16 distribution centres across the country – all corporately owned. All are part of an aggressive expansion program announced when the company returned to the public equity market in 2015.
