Samsung opens pop-up showroom
TORONTO (21 September 2015) - Throughout the month of September, Samsung Home Appliances Canada will strive to impress consumers living in this country's largest city with its latest collection of what it describes as "next-generation home appliances that bring together flexibility, convenience and style" using a pop-up showroom located in the heart of its downtown core.
The Samsung Home Innovation Showroom - located at 435 King Street West and created by a local interior designer - will be open through to the end of this week and will offer visiting consumers a hands-on experience with three of latest kitchen collections, including the Black Stainless Steel collection (set to debut next month); the Innovation collection and the Chef collection of kitchen appliances.
Every weekend in September, the space has featured local chef Kathleen Mackintosh, who offered a number of demonstrations in farm-to-table cooking.
This is the second year Samsung has used a pop-up showroom in downtown Toronto to introduce its latest kitchen technology. There are currently no plans to repeat this in other Canadian cities.
A spokesman for Samsung noted the emphasis was on providing hands-on Samsung appliance experiences. Consumers interested in purchasing were referred to local retailers flooring their product.
"The approach behind the showroom was to give consumers a hands-on experience to get to know the products," she said. "It was important for us to allow guests to touch, feel and interact with the various appliances."
The space also featured Samsung laundry products as well as its robotic vacuum cleaner.
Citing the Retail Tracking Service of NPD Group, Samsung Canada believes it was this country's the number one major appliance brand (full-size refrigerators, dishwashers, ranges, ovens, cook-tops, washing machines and clothes dryers) based on dollar sales for the 12 months ending December 2014 as well as for the months of January to April 2015 inclusive.
