On the Floor with Magniflex
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario – In the second of our 'On the Floor' video reports from the 2019 edition of the Canadian Furniture Show (CFS), HGO director of marketing Corrie-Ann Knell visits with Richard Landriault, director of Canadian sales of mattress producer Magniflex.
During their conversation, Landriault reports on the latest developments from Magniflex, the Italian sleep specialist that is believed to be the first producer of compressed mattresses – otherwise known as the bed-in-a-box.
“This company has been in business for nearly 60 years, and they’re now selling in over 100 countries around the world,” Landriault says. “Their plant is manufacturing over 10,000 mattresses every single day. What we do that is very different from other people is the foam manufactured what we call pressure sensitive and not heat sensitive. So, the pressure sensitive will allow you to expand exactly immediately, without getting hot because our foam is 100% breathable.”
He notes their foam is 100% Viscose which is made from wood. Magniflex’s latest innovation is their ‘dual core’ mattress. The user can remove the ticking by unfastening the zipper. Inside are two individual cores – one soft and the other firm. The user can flip either core to the desired comfort level – “which is pretty unique in the marketplace because we know that nine people out of ten today have a different comfort level.”
Magniflex has supported CFS for the past 12 years and he’s looking forward to the move back to January in 2020, noting it will “end up being the first show that retailers will see.”
The next edition of the Canadian Furniture Show will be held from 16 to 18 January 2020 at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.
