Moe’s opens Edmonton licensee
EDMONTON, Alberta – Full-line furniture distributor and retailer Moe’s Home Collection has opened its 11th licensed store on the heart of this city’s Design District.
The 10,000 square foot store – which had its grand opening this past weekend during Edmonton’s Open for Summer re-opening event – will owned and operated by Matt Singer, who is also the fourth-generation owner of Cottswold Interiors, a high-end furniture specialist that happens to be located immediate next store to the new Moe’s outlet.
Both can be found on Mayfield Road NW.
Singer is also the owner of Unfold, a newly launched direct-to-consumer e-commerce platform specializing in high-end sofa beds.
The Vancouver–based Moe’s Home offers an assort of furniture and lifestyle products across a number of popular categories and design styles, including Scandinavian, modern, mid-century, contemporary, industrial, art deco, and retro. The Edmonton showroom will be their sixth location in Canada, including their headquarters and warehouse in Vancouver. The other licensed stores are in Toronto as well as the British Columbia cities of Coquitlam, Victoria, and Delta.
The other licensed stores can be found in the United States.
“We’re delighted to be opening a new store in Edmonton and partnering with Matt and his team. Alongside their energy and longstanding experience in the retail world, we’re sure the store will be a success. The brand has an enthusiastic following in the city already. Now we have an outlet for customers to touch, feel and envision the products in their homes,” Moe’s Home co-chief executive officer Sara Samieian said in a statement.
Samieian added with 25 years of retail behind him and an additional furniture store next store, Singer and his team are anticipating the fresh spin the Moe’s Home product assortment and aesthetics will have on the local design-seeking community. She noted Edmonton has an expanding and lively local arts and culture scene as well as great restaurants, sports teams all while being close to nature.
“Things are always happening here in Edmonton whether they be design and art-driven, music, or sports, it’s a vibrant city that appreciates its culture. Our showroom is in an area we’re debuting as the Design District. With 12 other retailers in the furniture and design business here, we are all really excited to see this area come to life as the community continues to grow,” Singer said.
Conveniently located on a large retail corridor that runs from West Edmonton Mall, Moe’s Home Edmonton is just ten minutes from the downtown core, Rogers Place Arena & the Ice District, a large mixed-use sports and entertainment area. As one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities, the latest designs and product direction that the brand is taking is sure to attract the young, dynamic, and diverse generations with its trendsetting, attainable furniture and home goods.
“Moe’s truly addresses what today’s household is after. People know exactly what they want and how the brand positions itself in the market as utterly design-driven – that’s what I wanted to be a part of. From the designs and product direction to their homegrown Canadian appeal, business model, and the fact that their entire team moved at rocket speed to get things off the ground – it’s been a wonderful experience working with such a fun, energetic, and creative company filled with dynamic people. I am thrilled about this partnership,” Singer said.
