SASKATOON – For the 15th consecutive year, Mega Group has achieved the Platinum Club level in the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. It is also the 20th consecutive year the co-operatively owned furniture, mattress, appliance and electronics retail buying group has been awarded Best Managed status.

Established in 1993, Canada’s Best Managed Companies is one of this country’s leading business awards programs recognizing excellence in private Canadian-owned companies. Each year, hundreds of companies undergo a rigorous application process, but only the best are awarded with this prestigious designation.

“This recognition is an example of the importance of leadership, innovation, and resilience in the face of uncertainty,” Mega’s acting president and chief financial officer Kevin Leier told members in a letter announcing the designation. “We have looked to our mission of making independent retailers stronger as the lens in which we view the challenges, opportunities, and key decisions that have guided us through the evolving world of retail.

Kevin Leier“We attribute our success in a time of relentless turbulence to clearly defined organizational purpose, fostering a remote, hybrid work environment, and a clear focus on employee well-being. By emphasizing employee health as a priority, we have ensured that our team feels valued which we expect will have a lasting impact and foster longevity,” he continued, adding, “By enabling an effective remote hybrid work environment, we have rapidly adapted the way we communicate and interact and how we lead our staff in an efficient manner. By focusing on safety, our team has been resilient to overcome some of today’s most pressing challenges, allowing Mega to continue to remain a leader in our industry.”

Mega Group was one of three furniture retailing organizations to retain Platinum Club status in the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. Also named to the list was The Dufresne Group, the Winnipeg-based operator of Dufresne Furniture & Appliances, the Retail Solutions Group and this country’s largest Ashley HomeStore licensee.
