Mario Degilio passes away

TIMMINS, Ontario – Retired furniture, mattress and major appliance retailer Mario Degilio died May 7, 2017, at the age of 87.

“He was our rock and our foundation,” his family in a statement.

Mario DegilioHe is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris (Lapalme) and by his children Paul (Betty-Anne), Roseanne (Clarke), and David (Renee) as well as a number of grandchildren including Ashley, Michael, Joey, Nathaniel, Zachariah, Paige, Zain, Blythe, Brenna and Logan. He was great-grandfather to James Fernandes.

Degilio was the long-time owner of Arctic Home Furnishings, a single-unit furniture, mattress and major appliance retailer that started off in 1943 as a dealer commercial refrigeration equipment.

A private family celebration of his life will be held.

The family requests that donations in his memory be made to the special care unit at the Golden Manor in Timmins, Ontario. Online condolences or donations can be made at www.lessardstephens.com.
