Magnussen to open new Canadian showroom as 2012 Toronto market opens
NEW HAMBURG, Ontario (18 August 2011) - Canadian case goods resource Magnussen Home Furnishings will open a new permanent showroom in the SOFA annex of Toronto's International Centre in time for the 2012 edition of the Canadian Home Furnishings Market.
The company has announced it has signed a long-term lease for a 7,437 square foot showroom. After market, it will also be open on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm as a resource for retailers throughout the year. SOFA is an acronym for Source of Furniture and Accessories.
"Strategically Toronto SOFA location gives us great access to Canadian retailers for the yearly January market as well as weekly support for retailers displaying our furniture throughout the year," Richard Magnussen, the company's chief executive officer, said in a statement.
Magnussen said this showroom will be its most fashion forward, focusing on master bedroom, youth bedroom, occasional table collections, accents and home entertainment for independent retailers.
The company's recent product launches, which will be featured at TCHFM next January, have focused on smaller-scaled bedroom collections such as Next Generation, a series of youth and second bedroom furniture that was launched at the recent Las Vegas Market as well as its value-priced Connections program which targets the $1,199 to $1,399 price point for a set that includes a bed, dresser, mirror and nightstand.
Other recent priorities include the merchandising of its logistics program which offers retailers direct container pricing on a minimum order of 250 cubic feet and delivery from a North American distribution centre in five to ten days.
"Our sales force is excited to have a presence in the Canadian marketplace to showcase our product lines and programs that are tailored to support the small and medium independent retailer," said Christa Albrecht, vice president of sales for the Eastern U.S. and Canada.
Magnussen Home also has permanent showrooms in the International Home Furnishings Center in High Point, North Carolina; the World Market Center in Las Vegas; and, in Dougguan, China.
The 2012 edition of the Canadian Home Furnishings Market will begin its annual four-day run on January 14.
