MIFF sets online exhibition
KUALA LAMPUR – The organisers of the Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) will launch the MIFF Furniverse next month, a three-day online exhibition designed to connect retail buyers with manufacturers who normally have a presence at this furniture trade event, which was cancelled earlier this year as part of the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Global buyers are invited to a universe of sourcing furniture, now just at their fingertips. For the first time ever, MIFF Furniverse is set to be an immersive online experience with real-time trading opportunities for buyers and exhibitors as soon as they enter. With MIFF’s successful 25 years track record in attracting international furniture exhibitors and buyers from 140 countries and regions, MIFF Furniverse is expected to be no different in terms of both excitement and a great experience – all online,” MIFF general manager Karen Goi said in a statement.
Informa Markets, MIFF owner and operator, said there will be three distinct events held on the Furniverse platform. Each will be geo-targeted and customised by global time zone, with one held for the Asia-Pacific, one for the North and South American markets and one for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Goi said the event is designed as a platform for buyers to have live interaction with suppliers via chat or video call. Both buyers and vendors will be able to schedule meetings and review product opportunities.
“MIFF Furniverse can connect Malaysian and international furniture suppliers with trade buyers virtually from all parts of the world and there is no better time than the present when global retailers are looking for alternative suppliers. We aim to provide our customers a unique online event experience and alternate digital solutions to continue their business,” Goi added.
Online registration for the Furniverse is open at www.miff.com.my. For the North American market, it will be held from August 18 to 20 and run each day from 8am to 2pm Eastern time.
MIFF will next be held from March 8 to 11, 2021. The organisers said that in 2019, the show drew over 600 exhibitors from Malaysian and South East Asia as well as more than 20,000 visitors, including over 6,000 international buyers.
