Jim Fee named 2018 NFA prez
ROSEVILLE, California – The Home Furnishings Association (HFA) elected Jim Fee of Stoney Creek Furniture as its president for 2018 at its annual membership meeting at recent the Las Vegas Market.
Fee succeeds outgoing president Stephen Kidder of Vermont Furniture Gallery in Burlington, Vermont.
Fee, who is president of the two-united destination retailer based in Stoney Creek, Ontario, is the second Canadian to helm the furniture retailing association. Dennis Novosel, founder and chairman of Stoney Creek served in the post when it was still called the National Home Furnishings Association. Fee served as president-elect during 2017 and has sat on the HFA’s board of directors for the past several years.
Currently, the only other Canadian serving on the HFA board is Andrew Tepperman, president of Tepperman’s Furniture, the five-unit chain based in Windsor, Ontario.
The 2018 slate of officers also includes Sherry Sheely of Sheely’s Furniture & Appliance, North Lima, Ohio, president elect; Jesus Capo of El Dorado Furniture in Miami Gardens, Florida, vice president; and, David Gunn of Knight Furniture in Sherman, Texas, secretary/treasurer.
New board members include Jim Bright of Dunk and Bright in Syracuse, New York; Cynthia Heathcoe of Contemporary Living in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; David Koehler of Johnny Janosik in Laurel, Delaware; Greg Rich of Habitation Design in Minneapolis; Matt Schultz of John V. Schultz Furniture in Erie, Pennsylvania; Bill Twelves of Bob Mills Furniture in Oklahoma City; and, Mandy Jeffries of Colfax Furniture in Greensboro, North Carolina.
In a statement, Sharron Bradley, the HFA’s chief executive officer said the association had a successful 2017. “Under the board’s direction we grew our education and advocacy efforts, hosted a successful networking conference and regional events and increased the value of membership through our program offerings,” she said.
“We look forward to another great year with our incoming officers and directors.”
