ITA sets new dates for spring Showtime market
HIGH POINT, North Carolina – The International Textile Alliance (ITA) has moved up by one week the previously announced dates for the spring edition of Showtime to May 16 to 19, 2021. It has previously been scheduled from May 23 to 26.
The association also said it will support permanent showrooms and temporary exhibitors by appointment during traditional High Point premarket event – currently planned for April 25 to 27 – and following the end of the now rescheduled High Point Market from June 8 to 10, 2021.
The spring edition of the High Point Market (HPM) will run from June 5 to 9, one day shorter than usual.
In a statement, ITA noted many HPM exhibitors are attending buyers at Showtime event and the decision to move up the May dates and provide additional dates in April and June was in response to feedback from both association members and event attendees.
The High Point Market Authority’s decision to postpone the spring market, prompted ITA to believe its in their members’ best interest to shift to the new format. “The overwhelming feedback resulted in the decision to hold Showtime in three segments in order to support our members, allow buyers to meet their deadlines for the Fall 2021 High Point Market and capture the best buying audience,” the statement read, adding timing issues surrounding the rollout of the COVID vaccines and other supply issues also influenced the decision.
“One of the main functions of the ITA is producing our bi-annual tradeshow where our members can present their new lines each season. COVID-19 has made that a difficult proposition over the past 10 months, but we are encouraged by our ability to hold a safe show in November 2020 and our members’ flexibility in accommodating their customers,” ITA managing director Carrie Dillon said. “We feel that the decision to offer multiple dates to showcase product in the spring is the best opportunity to service all stakeholders on a schedule that meets their safety and sourcing requirements.”
The ITA will enforce the same social distancing and safety measures during the spring Showtime events as were successful in November 2020.
“The health and safety of our members and customers is the most important factor in this decision and multiple dates will allow attendees to participate when they feel most comfortable,” ITA board president Kelly DiFoggio added. “I would also like to thank our partners at International Market Centers (IMC) for working with the ITA to support the temporary exhibitors at Showtime during the additional dates.”
Registration for the spring Showtime event will open in mid-March. Attendees are asked to make appointments directly with ITA member companies for the remarket (April 25 to 27) and post-HPM (June 8 to10) events. The Fall 2021 Showtime is still scheduled to run from November 14 to 17, 2021.
