ITA cancels Showtime
HIGH POINT, North Carolina – The International Textile Alliance (ITA) has cancelled the spring edition of its Showtime fabric market, citing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the home furnishings industry and current business conditions.
ITA recently reschedule the event to overlap with the upcoming spring edition of the High Point Market in a gesture meant to avoid Showtime attendees from having to travel to North Carolina twice in the same month. Showtime was to be held from 12 to 16 June. The fall edition will be held as scheduled from 15 to 19 November.
“Based on the input of our board and membership, it is clear that holding our Spring/Summer Showtime market in June will not be possible,” ITA president and director of sales and marketing for Yarn & Loom Kelly DiFoggio said in a statement. “The majority of our members have been severely impacted by this pandemic and do not have the staffing or financial resources for the product development, show setup and travel needed to make this a full, productive market.”
During this time between Showtime markets, ITA is refocusing its efforts to deliver value to its members by developing online and multimedia tools designed to support its ongoing role as a leading industry connector and central base of information.
Should the spring High Point Market proceed as planned from 12 to 14 June, ITA said it will support any members that want to show their product, including marketing and procurement of temporary space. Buyers wishing to view fabrics, leather and trimmings in June, July and thereafter are encouraged to contact alliance members through its web site’s online directory.
