IMM Cologne returning to January dates in 2024
COLOGNE, Germany – The organizers of IMM Cologne, one of the largest and most influential furniture trade events in Europe, will return to its traditional time slot next year as well as its normal five-day run when it opens on Sunday, 14 January 2024.
The next edition of what is commonly tagged as The International Interiors Show will be held at this city’s Koelnmesse fair grounds this June 4 to 7. Date changes were made as part of the German government’s moves to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement, Koelnmesse executives said both the June 2023 and January 2024 events will introduce what is calls a “redefined” IMM Cologne designed for effective business and a focus on trade visitors.
Right at the start of the new year, IMM Cologne 2024 is the ideal platform for an industry gathering that brings the global interior design scene together – making it the ideal opportunity to get a feel for emerging trends. The event is an invitation to present new collections and product innovations, to exchange ideas and trends, and to establish new contacts and nurture existing relationships.
“In close consultation with the industry and the associations involved in the event, we’re delighted to be able to announce that IMM Cologne will return to its usual January dates from 2024. The start of the year always has a unique dynamic, which makes it the perfect time for the industry and the retail and wholesale trade to gather and design tomorrow’s living spaces together,” says Gerald Böse, chief executive officer of Koelnmesse.
This view is shared by Elmar Duffner, president of the Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM): “We welcome this early decision on IMM Cologne’s future dates. The announcement will make planning easier for our manufacturers. There is strong support in the industry for an IMM Cologne in January – the event has been a firm fixture on the calendar for decades.”
The organizer’s vision for a re-imagined IMM Cologne will be seen by both exhibitors and trade visitors when the special spring event of the event opens this June.
“The gathering of key market players not only offers exhibitors and visitors outstanding opportunities to grow their business and establish new contacts. It’s also a chance to play an active role in idea creation and trend setting. IMM Cologne sees its future role as a driver for both industry-specific and external topics that are relevant to the entire world of interior design,” Matthias Pollmann, Koelnmesse vice president of trade fair management for furniture, interiors and design, explains.
