BURLINGTON, Ontario – IKEA Canada will open its much-anticipated full-size store in Quebec City on Wednesday, 22 August 2018, the company has announced. The day will begin with a grand opening celebration at 8:20am with the doors opening to customers at 9am.
“We're so excited to welcome our first customers to our brand-new IKEA Quebec City store,” store manager Annika Lenoir said in a statement.
More information about grand opening plans, including customer offers and promotions will be available soon. IKEA Quebec City regular store hours will be weekdays from 10am to 9pm, and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
The existing Quebec City pick-up and order point will close on Monday, 13 August and the last day for customers to place orders for pick-up was 24 July. More information can be online at: IKEA.ca/Quebec
The 340,000 square foot Quebec City store will include a huge showroom and market hall as well as a full restaurant and a Småland children’s play facility. It will also offer customers a complete range of convenient services such as home delivery, assembly, planning and returns.
“I'm thrilled that half of the jobs at IKEA Quebec City are full-time, and part-time co-workers will receive guaranteed hours each week,” IKEA Canada president Marsha Smith said. “Working at IKEA is inspiring, fun and fast-paced. Career opportunities are endless, and we take great pride in giving our co-workers the opportunity for professional growth and development.”
Quebec City is the 14th IKEA store in Canada and was opened almost a year after Halifax – the home furnishing giant’s first full-size store in Atlantic Canada. The next opening will be in London, Ontario sometime in the fall of 2019.
In 2015, IKEA Canada launched an expansion campaign whose goal is to double its store count to 24 and its annual sales to an estimated $3.8 billion during the following decade. For the first year ending in August 2017, the company reported sales of $2.17 billion, an increase of 5.9% over the previous year.
