Happy Holidays from HGO!
BRIGHTON, Ontario – Another year is drawing to close and with it comes the opportunity to gather with family and friends to reflect on the highs and lows of the past twelve months while eagerly anticipating what comes next. Everyone here at Home Goods Online would like to wish all of our friends and colleagues, readers and sponsors wherever you are in the country and whatever your faith, a truly Merry Christmas and a Joyful, Peaceful and Prosperous New Year.
Ours may not be a very large industry but we’re not boring. And over the past month or so, I found some new things to write about, new ideas to inspire us and, perhaps a few new ways of looking at things.
We plan to expand our video streaming in the New Year, bringing another to share information and insights because it’s through knowledge that we are better able to compete in this ever-changing world. One of the new features that we’re excited about is a series of conversations with Albert Marrache, president of Phoenix AMD International, call Making Business Cents. Those of you who know Albert, know he has strong views about the potential of independent retail and over the course of these eight to ten-minute segments, he’ll be talking with HGO’s own Corrie-Ann Knell we’ll be exploring these observations.
January will also see the launch of the 2019 edition of the Retail Sales Professional Awards. The whole purpose of this program is to celebrate the contributions of the retail sales person and sale manager – the gatekeepers of our industry.
The end of the holidays will also mark the beginning of the run-up to the Canadian Furniture Show, which returns to the International Centre in the Toronto suburb of Mississauga for three days beginning Friday, May 24. Then, we only have a six month wait to the 2020 edition as this country’s only national furniture industry trade event moves back to January.
Our office will close at 12noon this coming Friday (21 December 2018) for the Holiday Season and will re-open on Wednesday, 02 January 2019 at 9am. We’ll still monitor our e-mail, so don’t be afraid to reach out to us at [email protected] as the news doesn’t go on holiday. We will post breaking stories to the home page during the break.
The next issue of the newsletter will be broadcast on Tuesday, 08 January 2019.
