FIO launches new web site
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario (05 November 2009) - The Floorcovering Institute of Ontario (FIO) has launched a new website, located at www.TheFIO.ca.
"The site has numerous improvements and additional content," the association's board of directors said in a letter to members.
The site's new ‘Members' section contains information about the FIO's education courses, news, events, benefits program as well as a library contained its regularly published newsletter. FIO members can obtain a password by emailing executive director Rosemary Schooley at [email protected]
"We have also made it easier for new members to join by placing forms and prices online," the board said.
With the new website will also make it possible for members or other interested persons to follow the FIO's activities on both Facebook and Twitter. Links to these online communities are in the lower right corner of every page.
"The FIO is consistently seeking new services and conveniences that we can offer our members," the board said. "We are striving to be one of the best industry associations in the Province of Ontario. Our numerous training and education programs are excellent. From How to Install Hardwood to Measuring and Estimating, these courses can help veterans or rookies in the floor covering business improve their skills. The courses also allow our members to set themselves apart from every other flooring retailer. Our members care about their businesses and about their clients, which is why they invest in having the most educated associates in the industry."
FIO membership includes not just retailers, but manufacturers, distributors, installers and professional flooring cleaners as well.
The FIO is the only provincial floor covering association to include the cleaning and maintenance sector of the industry in its membership. In 1993, the Ontario Professional Carpet Cleaners Association (OPCCA) joined the FIO.
In addition to offering education courses for the cleaning sector, the FIO is also a shareholder in both Connections and IICRC (The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification).
"Finally, with the new web site we will be converting our printed newsletter to a more earth friendly electronic version," the board said, adding that hard copies will be available for those who prefer a paper copy.
