Décor Rest names president
TORONTO – Décor-Rest Furniture has promoted Angelo Marzilli Jr. to president of the family owned and operated Canadian upholstery producer, succeeding his father and company founder Angelo Marzilli Sr.
The younger Marzilli has been executive vice president since 2009. The elder Marzilli who along with his wife Christina founded the company in 1972, will remain active in the company as chairman and managing director, respectively.
In a statement, the company said that as president, Angelo Marzilli Jr. – known as J.R. to his familiars – will continue to provide strategic leadership of the firm, establishing goals and policies in collaboration with the company’s board and management team.
“Throughout the past 28 years, J.R. has gained intimate, hands-on experience and exposure in all areas of our business,” said Angelo Marzilli Sr. “The knowledge J.R. has acquired over the past eight years in his position as executive vice president – coupled with his sharp focus and solid relationships with our customers, vendors and staff – uniquely prepares him to continue our tradition of exceeding expectations.
“This transition has been in the planning stages for some time and will ensure Decor-Rest’s status as a global leader for a new generation of shoppers,” he continued, adding, “J.R. brings a fresh perspective to our brand, enabling us to keep pace with the new realities of today’s changing retail market and consumer preferences.”
As chairman of the board, Angelo Marzilli Sr. will continue his oversight of manufacturing processes and the artisan culture he created and maintained as the company has grown. In her role as managing director, Christina Marzilli will continue to develop the designs, décor and fabrics that have become the hallmark of Decor-Rest.
“Our core value and strength for the past 45 years has been to apply our family values to our dealings with people everywhere,” said Christina Marzilli. “Our relentless pursuit of the highest standards of customer service and building strong client relationships will remain unchanged under the leadership of Angelo J.R., and we are proud and excited to see J.R. build on the foundation we have established.”
“Decor-Rest has grown to a position of prominence in Canada over the past 45 years with a strong, loyal and hard-working team of more than 300 dedicated craftspeople and administrators who continue to adapt to fast-paced and ever-changing retail and consumer trends,” added Angelo Marzilli Jr. “I look forward to continuing that growth trajectory and to delivering the ultimate experience in upholstered furniture.”
