Debbie Travis coming to Sears

 20 September 2015

TORONTO (17 September 2015) - Canadian designer and television personality Debbie Travis will launch a new line of home products at Sears Canada including both indoor and outdoor furniture, tabletop, bed and bath as well as decorative accessories beginning in January 2016.

In a statement, the multi-channel retailer said the Debbie Travis collection will be inspired by the people places around the world that are a meaningful part of her life.

The collection will be sold in all Sears Canada department stores across the country as well as online at www.sears.ca and through the catalogue.

"We are excited to welcome Debbie to Sears Canada and to work with her to bring her new line of high style and quality products to our customers," Brandon G. Stranzl, executive chairman of Sears Canada, said in a statement.

"Launching new lines with designers like Debbie is part of our strategy to make our stores a destination for Canadian shoppers to outfit their lives with brands they love," he continued. "We blend the expertise of designers and vendors who make great product with our nationwide store network, sears.ca and the catalogue. Together, this partnership forms a unique product distribution network that is, we believe, unmatched anywhere in the country."

He noted Debbie Travis' design talent and natural charisma have made her an icon in Canadian television.

"Canadians and fans around the world have used her decorating suggestions and entertaining tips for years," he said, adding Sears will make her product available to Canadians all across the country, even those in remote regions who may not otherwise have access to products of this quality and design level.

"I am delighted to join the Sears Canada family to bring my brand to even more Canadian homes," said the Toronto-based Travis. "Sears Canada's legacy of being a trusted retailer and providing quality products at affordable prices to Canadian families matches well with my desire to create designer fashions for the home at exceptional value."

A Sears Canada spokesman told Home Goods Online the new collection is "quite diverse" and will feature, on the furniture side everything from upholstery to dining sets. Outdoor will focus on patio sets, both dining and seating, while accessories will cover the complete range from throws to pillows.

It will be marketed as a Sears private label brand in the ‘better' price points.

Canadian Tire previously carried a Debbie Travis branded line of ready-to-assemble, accent and occasional furniture as well as accessories and other home products, such as window coverings and hardware.

Signing Travis is the latest celebrity collection to be added to Sears Canada's assortment as part of the company's rebuilding effort. The publicly-held merchant recently added women's fashion guru Peter Nygard and Canadian hockey legend Wayne Gretzky to its list of strategic partnerships. Later this year, case goods resource CDI Furniture and upholstery specialist Palliser are expected to open their own ‘shops-in-shop" spaces inside most of the company's corporate stores across the country.
