Casper opens in Québec
MONTRÉAL – E-commerce mattress power Casper has opened its first retail pop-up destination in Quebec here the world’s largest French-speaking city outside of France. Called Le Chalet Casper, it’s located in the city’s Plateau Mont-Royal district and follows the recent opening of the Casper Sleep Shop in Toronto.
In a statement, the New York-headquartered e-tailer said Le Chalet Casper was designed to help the consumer re-imagine how she shops for sleep by creating an environment inspired by the tranquility of the traditional Québécois summer home. Consumers visiting the store are invited to test out Casper products in one of three miniature homes, themed around summer activities such as hiking, sailing and fishing. Casper’s mattresses, pillows and sheets can be purchased in the store or delivered to the customer’s home – just in time for Quebec’s famous moving season, which begins on 01 July, Canada Day.
Casper launched its Canadian web site in December 2014 and since then has dabbled in pop-up stores across the country. Recently, it entered into national retail partnerships with companies such as Indigo Chapters; contemporary furniture and home furnishings specialist EQ3; and, Hudson’s Bay, the Toronto-based department store chain.
“At Casper, we believe that the experience of buying a mattress should be just as comfortable as sleeping on one,” Nicole Tapscott, senior director and general manager of Casper Canada, said in a statement. “Le Chalet Casper is designed as an oasis for people to relax as they would in a summer chalet to escape the city heat and bustle. We encourage visitors to touch, feel and experience our sleep products in an environment that will leave them with the feeling of a life well slept.”
Located at 4367, rue Saint-Denis, in downtown Montréal, Le Chalet Casper will be open Wednesday to Sunday until 22 July 2018. It will be supported by its own web site at lechaletcasper.ca.
