Capel reports strong Atlanta market

 27 July 2009

TROY, North Carolina (27 July 2009) - Capel Rugs wrapped up a successful International Area Rug Market last week in Atlanta. Although attendance was down slightly from a year ago, order writing was up 48 per cent over last year's numbers, with large volume in special promotion rugs.

"We're very pleased with our sales during Atlanta market," Capel vice president of sales Allen Robertson said in a statement. "Our new offerings were well received and buyers gave great feedback about our new color stories and value pricing."

Capel's bestsellers at market included the traditional designs of Velvet and Classic Chobi. The colourful braided collection Songbird was a big hit with buyers as well. Brand new introductions Riverdale and Seabreeze also garnered interest. Buyers represented the full range of Capel's distribution channels.

Special guest and design partner Jane Seymour signed her book Open Hearts for a large crowd at Capel's Atlanta showroom during market on July 13. Visitors expressed interest in new introductions from the co-branded line of Jane Seymour rugs by Capel, which debuted select collections including a Karma Naturals design and a custom-bordered outdoor rug.
