Beauti-Tone announces its 2020 colour of the year, Honey I’m Home

BURFORD, Ontario – Beauti-Tone Paint has named Honey I’m Home, from the Simon Change 2019/2020 Trend Colour Collection as its Colour of the Year for 2020, describing it as “the warm and calming, pull that snuggly blanket around you and let it all go” colour.

In a statement, Bev Bell, creative director for Beauti-Tone Paint as well as the home products division of its owner – Home Hardware Stores – said the selection of the 2020 colour was relatively easy for noted Canadian style guru Simon Chang and the other members of her team.

Seen on the left side of the wall, Honey I’m Home has been selected by Beauti-Tone as its Colour of the Year for 2020.“Canadians are craving calm,” she said. “When we walk through our front door, we want to leave stress and trouble outside. Honey I’m Home is like a great, big warm hug. It’s that sweet colour that we can simply melt into and just be(e).”

Already garnering attention in Europe, Honey I’m Home, Bell said is reminiscent of the colour of sweet honey and is like liquid amber for the wall of almost anyone’s home. “This warm, golden hue reflects the resurgence of camel in fashion and home. It is bold, beautiful and pure, without being raw,” says Simon Chang. “This is a colour that will create beauty anywhere in your home – walls, furniture, floors, and accents. It pairs beautifully with a wide range of colours yet is buzzworthy for its sweet simplicity.”

The 2019 colour of the year was Tropic of Conversation, a fully saturated orange hue. In an interview, Bell told Home Goods Online that the transition to Honey I’m Home is a reflection of the consumer’s reaction to what’s happening around them.

“Beauti-Tone’s colour of the year selections are always a part of the dialog about how Canadians are feeling and what we are craving,” she noted. “Last year Canadians were feeling ‘take charge’, not ‘take cover’. Not afraid to stand up and stand out, Tropic of Conversation, full of warmth, joy and positive energy, was the ‘colour of beautiful chaos’.”

This year Canadians are craving a sense of security and calm. “Our homes are where we escape and feel protected. Soulful and therapeutic, Honey I’m Home is like walking into a beautiful hug.”

She also believes it’s a wonderful colour for furniture retailers. “We saw the emergence of this colour in Europe, often a precursor for style here in North America”, Bell said. “It is a great wall colour, to stand behind furniture selections in bold navy, red, green, and grey plus textured prints and bold patterns. But, it is also, in itself, a great furniture colour. People are investing in sofas and chairs in this colour, it is just that welcoming and beautiful. Imagine Honey I’m Home in lush velvet or suede. And, of course it is perfect for accents like cushions, art, floral décor, and area rugs.”

Honey I’m Home is part of the Simon Chang 2019/20 Trend Colour Collection. Beauti-Tone is the inhouse brand of paint for the member-owned Home Hardware, Home Building Centre and Home Hardware Building Centre locations across Canada.
