27 Canadian showrooms open for fall High Point Market

HIGH POINT, North Carolina – Of the 66 or so Canadian furniture and furnishing resources with permanent showrooms here, only 27 have declared they will open for the upcoming fall edition of the High Point Market, which will be held across a nine-day period beginning Tuesday, October 13.

However, in a statement issued yesterday (October 5), the High Point Market Authority (HPMA) said 70% of active exhibitors with showrooms in the 180 or so building that make up the event have confirmed they will be open.

In its statement, the authority urged attendees wanting to see which companies have confirmed that its showroom will open can should visit the ‘exhibitor’ section of the its web site at www.highpointmarket.org/exhibitor and look for the ‘confirmed open’ notation on the exhibitor’s profile.

During the market, the authority’s market app will list only those exhibitors who have confirmed they will be open. 

“Due to the recent increase in consumer demand for home furnishings, we are not surprised by this strong showing of open showrooms. We expect buyers in attendance will be ready to do business when they get here, and we’re pleased there will be plenty of open showrooms to welcome them,” HPMA president and chief executive officer Tom Conley said. “The industry shared with us early on in this planning cycle they greatly needed this in-person buying opportunity. We have worked tirelessly to create a plan that would allow such to happen within the current health and safety guidelines outlined by health officials.” 

He also noted that while a few exhibitors have yet to log into their profiles to update their fall market status, only 128 permanent exhibitors have shared they will not be open this October.

The fall 2020 edition of the High Point Market is set to kick off on Tuesday, October 13. The extended, nine-day show will operate with a multitude of safety measures in place to align with the current guidelines from U.S. health authorities. It will culminate on Wednesday, October 21.
