2018 CFS campaign begins

MISSISSAGA, Ontario – The organisers have launched the marketing campaign that will culminate with the opening of the 2018 edition of the Canadian Furniture Show, which will be held from May 25 to 27 at the International Centre here. Companies wishing to exhibit at this country’s only national furniture industry event can begin booking their space today.

Noting the 2017 edition welcomed more exhibitors across more exhibit space than it did in 2016, the organisers acknowledge visitors are eager for more of everything.

“Visitors are increasingly interested in discovering trends and new products, showcased by top-notch exhibitors,” Pierre Richard, CFS president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “Since 2015, we have been making changes and adjustments to the event based on the results of our annual surveys.

“The 2018 show will focus on quality exhibitors, as well as on promoting their new products and displaying the latest trends,” he continued, adding, “We will also continue to provide visitors with hotel room discounts and we will draw free accommodation packages. We are sparing no effort to attract visitors.”

The Canadian Furniture Show has a unique place in the North American market and it enables exhibitors to meet new buyers, the organisers maintain.

She is seen here with CFS president Pierre Richard (left) in Hall 1 of the International Centre.“In fact, about 75% of our visitors do not attend either High Point Market or the Las Vegas Market, and close to 80% of our exhibitors do not participate in these two events,” Richard said. “Thus, the Canadian Furniture Show offers interesting business opportunities by attracting new exhibitors and new visitors. It also leads to building customer loyalty, opening new accounts, and booking orders.”

First held in 1972, the event is owned and organised by the Quebec Furniture Manufacturers Association (QFMA), the Montreal-based factory group. Richard was also quick to stress the association remains committed to the event. “The Canadian Furniture Show is a priority for the QFMA’s board of directors and the industry as a whole,” he said. “We are committed for the next several years and have announced the dates right up 2022.

“But, we continually have to rethink how we are going to do things,” he added. “This is why the show team sounds out the industry every year, implements new features, evaluates them and adjusts the event accordingly on an annual basis.”

Although visitor registration isn’t open yet, Richard said the organisers plan to conduct the draw for free hotel room packages for the third consecutive year in 2018. “We will continue to have attractive discounts on hotel rooms as well,” he said.

Those furniture resources with permanent showrooms in the area surrounding the International Centre will once again be invited to be part of CFS. “Emulating the High Point Market, where the displays in the main buildings and the surrounding exhibition halls are part of the event, the Canadian Furniture Show continues to count on the participation of the Toronto area showrooms,” Richard pointed out. “According to our surveys, 67% of the 2017 show’s visitors went to these showrooms.”
