West Bros to star on Making Stuff PDF Print E-mail

HANOVER, Ontario (31 July 2012) - West Bros Furniture will be featured on an upcoming episode of the popular TVO program Making Stuff focusing on "how to build a table."

Director and creator Wendy Loten spent a day at West Bros' factory here filming the segment which will be aired for the first sometime in this coming September.

Loten and the crew of Making Stuff travel the world seeking out innovative, state of the art companies to feature in five minute segments that answer questions from their audience - one of the recent inquiries being "how do you build a table?"

"Making Stuff travels the world to find interesting products for our series. We were delighted to find such high quality furniture being made right in Canada," Loten said in a statement.

"It's a wonderful opportunity to reach out to a younger audience and educate them on solid wood manufacturing," Paul West, president of the privately-held case goods producer, said. "Obviously it took a bit of extra planning to show a table from start to finish in one day. However, our plant management team was so thorough, we were able to get 90 minutes of coverage showing it in breakout and finally coming off the finishing line."

Loten said West's manufacturing process translated well for television.

"In Europe and Australia, we have seen computer controlled machinery that maximizes output while also minimizing waste," she said, adding, "West Bros. uses similar equipment without sacrificing the human touch that produces fine quality."

"It was a pleasure to film in such a well-organized and clean factory," she continued. "The care and quality that goes into each piece of furniture at West Bros is evident its clean and organized surroundings."
