Electrolux launches promotion to benefit Ronald McDonald House PDF Print E-mail
Written by HGO Staff

TORONTO (29 June 2012) - Major appliance resource Electrolux Canada has launched a promotion in conjunction with Mega Group's BrandSource Canada network in an effort to raise a minimum of $44,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada (RMHCC).

From now until the end of the year, $40 from the sale of every Frigidaire OrbitClean dishwasher will be donated to RMHCC, which provides a home away from home for out-of-town families of seriously ill children being treated at nearby hospitals.

Electrolux also announced it will make an exceptional commitment and donate premium, modern appliances to each of the soon-to-be 14 Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada to create comfortable kitchen environments for guest families.

Attending the unveiling of Electrolux's 365 Nights of Comfort promotion are company execs Jon Sprung, director of dealer channel sales; Alan Mundy, marketing; Sue Stevenson, vice president and general manager; Norm MacNeil, director of product and brand development; and, Chris Kosmala, trade marketing manager.

"We cannot begin to understand the extreme hardship these families face, but we are pleased to be able to provide appliances for the heart of the home, the kitchen, adding to the comfort and convenience that Ronald McDonald Houses have been providing to these families for three decades," said Norm MacNeil, Electroluxc Canada's director of product and brand development, said in a statement.

Electrolux is the second BrandSource Canada vendor to partner with the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan-based buying group in support of RMHCC - the other being mattress major Sealy Canada.

The 365 Nights of Comfort promotion - featuring Frigidaire OrbitClean dishwashers - will run under December 31.

Each Ronald McDonald House is independently operated and relies on active contributions and support from individual donors, corporations and charitable groups in their communities. It provides more than 10,000 families of seriously ill children with a safe and comfortable place to stay that is just steps from the hospital where their child is undergoing treatment.

"We are truly grateful to have Electrolux supporting Ronald McDonald Houses and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms across the country," said Cathy Loblaw, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada. "The 365 Nights of Comfort will provide much needed funding to help our houses double the number of families they serve a year to 20,000! And, by generously donating household appliances, Electrolux will also allow Ronald McDonald House families to enjoy the conveniences and supports of home while they are staying a Ronald McDonald House - making daily life easier so that families can focus on what matters most - their sick child."

Sears Canada: Breaking the brand promise

FROM THE HGO MERCHANDISER

What makes a store special? The brands it offers? The service it provides? Its prices? Its selection?

After spending most of my adult life in retail, I can confidently say it's all about the brand. A store's service can be trumped and prices are a race to the bottom, especially in today's economy. Selection is also a tough one to win on. Someone can always open a specialty store, and that advantage will go the way of the Dodo bird.
