IKEA Canada to launch mobile shopping app tomorrow PDF Print E-mail
Written by HGO Staff

BURLINGTON, Ontario (01 May 2012) - IKEA Canada will be one of three countries to pilot the Swedish home furnishings giant's new mobile shopping application for Android and iPhones. The app will go online tomorrow.

According to the company, the app will enable customers to browse IKEA's product range, review product information and availability.  It will also allow the creation of shopping lists that include the product's location for pick-up in the store. Customers can even access a store map on their phone to make navigating through the store easier.

"We recognize that smartphones are changing consumer behavior and our customers are increasingly relying on their mobile phones to get the information they need," IKEA Canada president Kerri Molinaro said in a statement. "Ten per cent of all traffic to the IKEA.com websites in March 2012 was from a mobile, which translates into an annual increase of 250%."

The mobile shopping app - available in both French and English - works alongside the company's new mobile-friendly web site and catalogue app to provide what Molinaro described as "a seamless ‘IKEA on the Go' experience."
