Starship to rock October HPM PDF Print E-mail
Written by HGO Staff

HIGH POINT, North Carolina (20 September 2011) - The High Point Market Authority (HPMA) has pulled together "a legendary line-up" of live performances for its Stars Under the Stars concert series at next month's edition of the High Point Market.

The fall 2011 edition of the High Point Market (HPM) will run from October 22 to 27.

International Market Centers (IMC), which acquired many of the showroom buildings in High Point in addition to the World Market Center in Las Vegas earlier this year, will start things off with an event on Saturday evening, October 22. Called the IMC Opening Night, this will be a concert and celebration co-sponsored by the HPMA.

The entertainment that evening will be The B-52s. Sometimes known as the World's Greatest Party Band, it will perform tunes such as Rock Lobster, Planet Claire and Private Idaho as welol as more recent classics such as Channel Z, Love Shack and Roam.

The Stars Under the Stars concert series kicks-off on Sunday, October 23 with The Starship, starring Mickey Thomas. The group was formerly known as Jefferson Starship and recorded a number of hits including Jane, We Built This City, Sara, and Find Your Way Back - all backed by Thomas's powerful vocals. In fact, every Starship album released since 1979 has gone Gold, Platinum, or Multi-Platinum.

The following evening (October 24), the series will feature the traveling roadshow party-band The Fabulous Swingin' Richards, bringing a power-playlist of irresistible dance music.

All of the concerts will be held at Center Stage, between the Transportation Terminal and Showplace in heart of the High Point's market district. All will begin at 7 p.m.

For more information check out the HPMA's web site at www.highpointmarket.org.
