IKEA publishes 2012 catalogue PDF Print E-mail

BURLINGTON, Ontario (15 August 2011) - IKEA Canada has announced the publication of the global home furnishings retailer's 2012 catalogue, which it expects to deliver to some five million households across the country. This year's theme is "maximizing space at home."

"No matter what size our homes are, none of us ever seem to have enough space," IKEA Canada president Kerri Molinaro said in a statement. "There is no doubt that a small space requires creative thinking, but even big spaces can be challenging as our lives grow and we have more things to store."

IKEA maintains that "nothing says luxury like a gorgeous quality sofa" such as the new TIDAFORS sofa which can be found on page 25 of its newly published 2012 catalogue at a list price of $699.

Furniture will get a lot of play in this year's catalogue, the 61st to be published. Among the pieces being featured are:

  • the new TIDAFORS sofa (page 25) which IKEA is offering for $699;
  • the OPPDAL bed frame (page 170) at $349 for a queen size, with drawers;
  • the ISALA series of occasional tables, the design of which was inspired by older Swedish furniture but with modern twists such as thicker legs;
  • the BILLY bookcases, which feature models that can be placed around a window or above a door;
  • the KIVIK sofa and seating series that offers built-in storage;
  • the MELLTORP dining table (page 99), priced at $39.99, it goes from compact to ready-for-friends when paired next to the NORBERG wall-mounted drop-leaf table; and,
  • the traditionally-styled HEMNES secretary (page 245) - priced at $275, this workstation offers built-in cable management.
IKEA is also expanding its range of LED lighting, including the new TIVED home office lamp as well as adding to its offerings of home accents with its EIVOR cushions.

In addition to home delivery, the 2012 catalogue will also be available through several digital channels, including the company's web site at The company will also offer an iPhone ‘app' beginning today which will be followed by one of the iPad later this year. Also being offered is a widget that will allow bloggers and other web sites to host the catalogue.

IKEA Canada operates 11 stores across the country and is part of the global home furnishings giant based in Sweden.

Also featured in the 2012 catalogue is the OPPDAL bed frame (found on page 170 at $349 for a queen-sized frame with drawers). IKEA said "it is perfect for leaning back and reading a good book".
