WMC says attendance up for winter market PDF Print E-mail

LAS VEGAS (14 February 2011) - The World Market Center reported the winter market here Jan. 24-28 attracted 25% more buyers than the summer 2010 event, and 9% more than the year-ago market.

The organizers of the Las Vegas Market cited double-digit buyer growth in key international regions, with Canadian buyers up 23%, Latin American buyers up 30% and Mexican buyers rising 13%, all compared to a year ago. Overall, international buyer attendance rose 16% from last winter.

Meanwhile, designer attendance increased 33%, and over 80% of the Top 100 U.S. retailers were at the recent winter market, the WMC said. Specific figures weren't given.

In addition, the winter market here saw a 20% increase in exhibiting companies compared to last summer's event, with 150 new-to-market exhibitors, the WMC said.

CMHC Q3 forecast says housing will cool through 2015

Resale market up again in July
OTTAWA (18 August 2014) - Sales of existing homes rose for the six consecutive month and the highest level for sales since March 2010 in July, according to figure released by the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) this past Friday. Sales processed through its Multiple Listing Service (MLS) were up 0.8% on a month-over-month basis.

Consumer spending flat in Q2
TORONTO (12 August 2014) - Canadian consumer spending remained flat for the second consecutive quarter of 2014, according to the Quarterly Spending Report published by credit and debit card processor Moneris Solutions Corporation. Consumer spending in appliance, home furnishings and furniture stores also fell.
