HIGH POINT, North Carolina (29 July 2010) - The High Point Market Authority (HPMA) has announced that some 25 companies, including three based in Canada, with permanent showrooms here will participate in the fall edition of pre-market, which is slated for 13 and 14 September.

That includes three new participants, which have agreed to participate in pre-market, which is primarily designed as a retail product preview event.

Of the three, two will be first-time participants. They are Lane Home Furnishings and Fine Furniture Design.

Lane, a division of Furniture Brands International, will be showing new occasional and entertainment furniture as well as new upholstery offerings. Fine Furniture is manufacturer of medium to high-end case goods and upholstery.

Returning as a pre-market sponsor is case goods specialist Wynwood Furniture.

The three Canadian firms participating include Casana Furniture, Magnussen Home and Palliser.

"The addition of these three industry leaders to the present 22 manufacturing sponsors enhances and further strengthens the breadth of pre-market," pre-market committee Kevin O'Connor said in a statement. "Our March pre-market was the best attended since its ‘rebirth' in August 2007. We continually strive to make the event efficient, as well as enjoyable for those attending."

Pre-market is held in High Point each March and September. Invited retailers are given the opportunity to view upcoming market introductions, and network with manufacturing key executives and peers in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Fall pre-market sponsors include both building owners and exhibiting furniture resources. The International Home Furnishings Center (IFHC), 220 Elm and the Merchandise Mart Properties (MMPI) are among the building sponsors.

The remaining furniture resources expected to participate include: American Drew, including its Lea and Hammary divisions; A.R.T. Furniture; Aspenhome; Bernhardt Furniture; Broyhill Furniture; England; Fine Furniture Designs; Hekman; Hooker Furniture; Kincaid Furniture; Lane Home Furnishings; Leather Trend; Legacy Classic; Natuzzi; Pulaski Furniture; Riverside Furniture; Samuel Lawrence Furniture; Stanley Furniture; Universal Furniture; Vaughan-Bassett Furniture; Vaughan Furniture; and, Wynwood.

Noah Tepperman, vice president of Tepperman’s in Windsor, Ontario, is seen here serving customers at the drive-through window at a local McDonald’s fast food outlet recently. He was taking part in a fundraising drive to benefit Transition to Betterness, a local group that focuses on improving patients’ surrounding in local hospitals. The event raised about $26,000. The four-unit, family owned and operated full-line furniture retailer supports a number of community initiatives each year as well as the Canadian Scholarship Trust Fund and the United Way.
