MARKHAM, Ontario (03 September 2009) - Toshiba of Canada's digital products group has introduced the first ever Toshiba-branded Blu-ray disc player. Scheduled for shipping in November, the BDX2000 provides full HD 1080p digital output and is designed to be coupled with its Regza LCD television. The company said the introduction "underscores its commitment to high-definition entertainment." The unit supports BD-Live (Profile 2.0) allowing users to use interactive features through an Ethernet connection. This new Blu-ray disc player boasts a faceted design featuring a smoked mirrored front panel. The stylish front panel dropdown door conceals the player's primary functions, allowing for a smooth, clean façade. ![]() The BDX2000 is the first Blu-ray disc player from Toshiba Canada. It will be shipped to retailers in November. "Toshiba is a technology leader in high definition products," Tamer Osman, product manager for Toshiba's digital A/V category, said in a statement. "We spend time listening to our consumers and know they demand access to high definition content. With the introduction of our BDX2000 we are offering consumers a breath-taking HD viewing experience to meet the needs of today's home theatre." Using the Regza-link function, the BDX2000 can connect with a Regza LCD TV via a HDMI cable and display full high definition content, controlled with a single remote. For added convenience, the BDX2000 features a SD card slot, making it an entertainment hub in the home by allowing consumers to showcase photos and videos with ease. The unit is also Energy Star certified and provides supports for enhanced audio formats from Dolby and DTS-HD Master Audio. The BDX2000 will have a suggested list price of $279.99. |
