Dene Rogers named CEO of Sears Canada PDF Print E-mail

TORONTO - Sears Canada has named Dene Rogers as president and chief executive officer. Rogers had served as the company's acting president since 09 May 2006.

His appointment was effective 22 December 2006.

Prior to his role with Sears Canada, Rogers was executive vice president of restructuring and business improvement for Sears Holdings Corporation and previously served as executive vice president and general manager of Kmart Stores. He joined Kmart in October 2003.

William C. Crowley, who was named Chairman of the Board of Sears Canada at the same time, said, "Dene Rogers has demonstrated the leadership and focus on profitability that Sears Canada needs to succeed in an increasingly competitive Canadian retail market."

He added, "The board of directors has been impressed with Dene's leadership and initiative and is confident that he is the right person to lead Sears Canada forward."

Crowley also serves as a member of the board of directors of Sears Holdings Corporation and is Sears Holdings' executive vice president and chief administrative officer. He has been a member of the Sears Canada board since March 2005.

Some 120 people from across the industry took part in the recent annual golf tournament hosted by Cantrex Nationwide at the Copper Creek Golf Course in Kleinberg, Ontario, just north of Toronto. As has become its usual practise the event benefits a local charity, in this case the Salvation Army. At right, Jeannine Ghaleb, CNW’s president and COO is seen presenting a cheque for $10,000 to the army’s Captain Rick Zelinsky.
