The Elena collection of baby furniture from Cara Mia.

Editor's Note: Each day until this country's largest trade event opens this coming Saturday morning, HGO will feature one new product from among the thousands set to be introduced a the Canadian Home Furnishings Market. The four-day event will run until Tuesday, 13 January.

The Elena collection from Cara Mia Furniture will delight parents who prefer contemporary and deco styles, care about environmental issues, but don't have much space to work with. Elena, minimalist in style, includes a change table that can be securely attached to the dresser or crib. The collection is made of European beech that meets FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) standards, and it comes in natural and mocha finishes.

Chair-Affair (1)

This October 30, the Furniture Bank will hold its annual Chair Affair Gala at the International Centre, home of the Canadian Furniture Show. Seen here are a selection of refurbished chairs created for the event by designers such as Jane Lockhart and Steven Sabados and Chris Hyndman. The organisation aids low-income or recovering clients who are leaving homelessness, escaping an abusive domestic situation, are new to the country or are settling as refugees furnish what might otherwise be an empty home.
