LG Electronics wins patent suit by Whirlpool PDF Print E-mail
Written by Business Wire (PR)

SEOUL, South Korea – LG Electronics Inc., South Korea's second-largest consumer electronics maker, said Monday that a U.S. federal judge has ruled in favour of the company in a patent lawsuit brought by U.S. appliance maker Whirlpool Corp.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld a lower court's decision that LG had not breached any Whirlpool patents. This ends the patent dispute with Whirpool involving two issues related to washing machine technology.

The lawsuit was filed after LG introduced an impeller type washing machine to the U.S. market. Whirlpool demanded a jury trial, award of damages and an order stopping sales of the machine.
