TORONTO - Future Shop announced Thursday that it will have hired "more than 6,000 seasonal associates" by 01 November to support holiday sales in its 134 Canadian outlets.
"Consumer electronics has become a favourite category for gift giving in Canada and some of the most anticipated and popular gifts of the season will be purchased at Future Stores over the holiday season," says Sue Voigt, Future Shop vice president of human resources and communications. "We're looking for some tech savvy, high energy people to help Canadians find the best gifts and complete their shopping lists." Future Shop traditionally hires temporary salespeople well in advance of the holiday shopping season so they can be trained. "The seasonal associates will receive a one-week intensive training program with customer service and further specific job training," Future Shop states in a prepared release. "We're planning for a big shopping season and expect some popular categories like gaming, wireless and digital cameras to explode this year," says Voigt. "Over 25 million Canadians shop at Future Shop during the holiday season. Our hiring blitz for seasonal associates combined with our trained, knowledgeable products experts will help our customers buy the right gifts and make shopping easy." |
