It has to acknowledge changes in consumer tastes, desires, interests and paths to purchase. HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (17 February 2015) - After 16 years in business and starting out as one of the first mattress specialty stores in Atlantic Canada, the two-unit Simmons Mattress Gallery shuttered its doors permanently a few weeks, another casualty of the post-recession economy and changing consumer expectations.

Quebec's Gémo, Denis Riel set to close

FARNHAM, Quebec (30 January 2015) - Two leading and influential independent furniture and mattress retailers in Quebec have announced they'll close their doors over the coming few months, one citing a desire to retire while the other a desire to restructure the family business. Both, however, lamented the current state of furniture retailing in Canada's second largest province.
